Update - Website, Copy Deadlines, Writing, Editing

Hello Everyone,

Here's the first of what I hope will be regular updates

Important Dates:

Tuesdays @ 5:30pm - The Smoke Editorial Meeting - Alternates between Harrow and Marylebone - Next week its Harrow - ALL the Editors (people on page 2) are present. Please do turn up if you want to write or have any ideas.

Monday Mornings (Fortnightly) - These are the copy deadlines. The next copy deadline will be Friday 3rd November, but thereafter the copy has to be in by Monday morning at 10am.

Thursdays (Fortnightly) - The Smoke comes out to campuses - It is delivered to Marylebone, and then sent via internal post to the campuses - Please do help distribute on a Thursday, or keep your eye out for a copy.

Website

This will obviously not be the website going forward. Ross Tilley from Smoke Radio has offered to help with The Smoke Newspaper website, so that all 3 Smoke Media are using the same system and look. Hopefully this should be up soon.

Editing

The Newspaper currently has section editors for every aspect of the paper, with the exception of classifieds and listings. We are working on bullet-proofing the editing system. More details on this at the meeting next Tuesday. Stephan Reichenberger is the Student Editor of The Smoke. He is the one who supports the Section Editors. This ensures that the newspaper content is that of students (i.e. I don't edit the content). Jack Richards is the Photo Editor, so if you need photos for your articles, and haven't managed to find any yourself, you can speak to him.

Writing

The Smoke is there for anyone to write in. All you need to do is write and send your work in to the relevant Section Editor. If you want inspiration or leads, the Section Editors are always looking for more writers. We want to ensure this newspaper is representative of the diverse student body, so make sure it is. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
